Job Title: Edge Network Engineer/ Network Support Engineer
Location: Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (Hybrid – Part-time Telework available).
Candidates must reside within the Greater Harrisburg, PA area.


About the Role:
The Edge Network Engineer supports the Pennsylvania Office of Administration’s Edge Networking team within the Bureau of Infrastructure. This role provides advanced network engineering and technical support services for the Commonwealth’s edge networks, helping designs, maintain, and secure large-scale LAN/WAN environments that support multiple state agencies.


Your Impact:
As a Edge Network Engineer, you will:
  • Install, configure, maintain, and manage network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, SD-WAN devices, wireless, and cellular components.
  • Monitor, test, and troubleshoot complex enterprise network systems using industry-standard tools.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of LAN/WAN network architectures, including capacity planning and schematic design documentation.
  • Support planned deployment, upgrades, and organizational change management initiatives.
  • Manage and document incidents and service requests via ServiceNow and Remedy ITSM platforms.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for widespread network-related incidents affecting Commonwealth agencies.
  • Evaluate new technologies and assist in hardware refreshes and edge network optimization efforts.
  • Maintain security compliance, network configuration standards, and accurate documentation using tools such as Microsoft Visio.
  • Collaborate with internal IT staff, external partners, and agency end-users to ensure high network performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay current with emerging networking technologies and best practices.
These responsibilities are not meant to be all-inclusive; additional tasks may be assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Residence within the Greater Harrisburg, PA area (required).
  • 4-5 years of experience in Network Switching and 3-4 years in Network Routing.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and maintaining enterprise LAN/WAN environments.
  • Proficiency in ServiceNow or Remedy ticketing systems and network monitoring/automation tools.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain CJIS clearance.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift 40-50 lbs. and occasionally work from a ladder.

Standout Qualifications:
  • Active CCNA certification (required or equivalent experience).
  • CCNP certification (preferred) or comparable expertise.
  • Experience with SD-WAN technologies (2+ years preferred).
  • Strong documentation skills (Visio diagrams, network standards, incident tracking).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with technical teams.
  • Prior experience supporting state government or large enterprise network environments.
Pay Range:
$65 - $75/hr.
Contract initially funded through 6/20/2026 with anticipated extension to 6/30/2025.
